Future Generation, the charitable investment group with more than $1 billion in assets, has hired UBS executive Caroline Gurney as its new chief executive after a global search.

Ms Gurney, who is well known in media circles, has headed up corporate affairs for UBS for more than 18 years and has served on the Future Generation Australia board since 2019. She will assume the role in September 2021.

Fund manager Geoff Wilson, who set up the Future Generation funds, said Ms Gurney’s experience would take the group to “the next level”.

Acting chief executive Kate Thorley said Ms Gurney, who is a member of several councils and foundations, will focus on promoting the investment vehicle and returning the share prices to their respective net tangible assets.
